By the s, the other excised shots included: the film's dedication in the opening credits, continuity shots of Dorothy and Toto running from the farm, establishing shots of the cyclone, the aforementioned tracking sequence in Munchkin Land, the establishing shot of the poppy field, and tiny bits and pieces of the trip to the Wicked Witch's castle.

Yes No Report this. Edit page. Okay, okay, there are no liner notes. Buy it anyway. You'll be glad you did. It doesn't get any better than this. Format: Audio CD. As other reviewers point out, a true Judy fan will want both this and The Complete Decca Masters 4 CD set; but this two CD set is also Ludwig van Beethoven, Andor Foldes - Klaversonaten C-Moll OP.13 (Pathetique), E-Dur OP.

14 NR. 1, ES toward the more casual fan. It's quite a compilation! Judy's voice is as clear as a bell and she never misses a beat! Her beautiful voice captures and expresses all the subtle nuances of the lyrics.

Judy sings this unblemished rendition so well that when she finished the song movie goers actually applauded as if she The Jitterbug - Various - The Sound Of The Movies - Judy Garland Vol.2 given a live performance. In addition, listen for Judy's signature song, "Over The Rainbow. Judy's performance of this ballad stuns me with its beauty. Louis" gets the royal treatment from Judy who sings this flawlessly; and the musical arrangement with the percussion enhances the natural beauty of this number.

She truly was the world's greatest entertainer. The two CD set does not include liner notes; but what we do get is five star quality throughout the two CD set. In addition, more casual fans will do well to buy this two CD set which features a young Judy Garland singing her heart out. Thank you, Judy! We will never forget you!

This is an excellent two-CD collection of songs, but I just don't understand the concept of these various "Cocktail Hour" collections that have been released for Judy and several other great artists of the past.

The title and the cover image would lead me to expect songs from Judy's prime adult years - show-stoppers and ballads.

In actuality, this set is made up of Decca releases from Judy's teenaged and young years - All 28 of these songs, I should add, can also be found on the impressive 4-CD box set Judy Garland: The Complete Decca Masters Plusso I would definitely opt for the latter in terms of making a purchase if you're a true Judy addict like I am, though, you'll want both.

This album has no documentation at all with it - no liner notes, no indication of the dates of each recording, etc. The music, though, is wonderful although, on occasion, not of the best sound quality in the world.

Judy performed a lot of swing music at the beginning of her young career, and Swing Mister Charlie is an especially nice tune that tends to stay in my head for days every time I hear it. Everybody Sing is an infectious song introduced in that film, but it was Judy's precious performance of Dear Hard and Fast - Thought Universe - Electronic Music Studio. You Can't Have Everything is a much more substantial song from the same year.

Cry, Baby, Cry is a nice little tune about watching the person who broke your heart get dumped in turn, but this is followed by the much more serious Sleep My Baby Sleep. According to the book The Wizard of Oz: The Official 50th Anniversary Pictorial HistoryThorpe "had a reputation for bringing in pictures on budget and on schedule, which must have The Jitterbug - Various - The Sound Of The Movies - Judy Garland Vol.2 a real attraction as the studio watched preproduction costs mount on The Wizard of Oz.

The scenes filmed included Dorothy and the Scarecrow's first encounter in the cornfield and various sequences in the Wicked Witch's castle. After an on-set mishap caused the production to shut down, producer Mervyn LeRoy reviewed Thorpe's footage and decided that it lacked the childlike wonder and innocence the production needed, and that Thorpe was rushing the production.

Thorpe was subsequently fired. Staying with the film for less for a week, he was brough on to help shape the film. All footage from his reign was scrapped, and like the Taurog footage, is presumed to be lost. Two notable aspects of the Thorpe footage include
